Old Gym and Pool

The Old Gym was built in 1951 replacing the original gym facility built in 1908. It contains a multi-use court, now used for intramural sports, as well as an indoor pool. The primary gym is located in the Phillips-Welshimer Building.

As a Johnson University Tennessee student, you have access to two on-campus fitness centers. The main workout gym, located on the bottom floor of the Eubanks Activities Center, contains weight-lifting equiptment, free weights, and cardio machines. A supervisor is present in this gym during operating hours. From the North:
From I-75 South, take I-275 South toward downtown Knoxville. Merge on to I-40 East. Take US 441 S/1-40 E/Henley St exit toward Asheville. Continue on US 441 approximately 11 miles. Turn left at stop light on to Hendron Chapel Road. Drive 5 miles; the Johnson University Tennessee entrance will be on your left.
From the West and South (via I-40/75):
Follow I-40 East toward downtown Knoxville. Take exit 388. Merge onto US 441 S/TN 71 S via the ramp on the left. Continue on US 441 approximately 11 miles. Turn left at stop light on to Hendron Chapel Road. Drive 5 miles; the Johnson University Tennessee entrance will be on your left.
Alternate from West and South:
From the west/south side of Knoxville take I-140 (Pellissippi Parkway) East toward Maryville to US 129 (Alcoa Highway). Go north on US 129 for 4 miles to US 168 (Governor John Sevier Highway). Turn right (east) on TN 168 approximately 8.5 miles to French Rd. Turn right on French Rd and follow the signs to Johnson University Tennessee.
From McGhee Tyson Airport:
Take US 129 North toward Knoxville 5.5 miles to US 168 (Governor John Sevier Highway). Turn right (east) on TN 168 8.5 miles to French Rd. Turn right on French Rd and follow the signs to Johnson University Tennessee.
From the Southeast (Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge):
Follow US 441 North from Sevierville toward Knoxville. At the fourth traffic light (approximately 15 miles after leaving Sevierville) turn right on Hendron Chapel Road. Drive 5 miles; the entrance to Johnson University Tennessee will be on your right.
From the East:
From I-40 east of Knoxville, take exit 398 (Strawberry Plains Pike) and follow signs to Johnson University Tennessee. You will make a total of 5 left turns in approximately 12 miles.​
