Royals Earn Big Road Win at Tennessee Wesleyan
Royal basketball picked up a strong conference road victory Tuesday night, defeating Tennessee Wesleyan 83–76 in Athens.
The Royals controlled the first half behind efficient scoring and a dominant presence on the glass, taking a 42–33 lead into the break. Tennessee Wesleyan made a push late, but Johnson held firm in the final minutes to secure the win.
Livingston Cross led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds, recording a double-double while shooting 9-of-19 from the field. Mason Lockhart added his own double-double with 9 points and 11 boards. Davon Cottle delivered 14 points and three assists, knocking down three triples, and Jahmar Brown gave the Royals a spark off the bench with 14 points and six made free throws.
Dallas Carbaugh finished with 10 points and eight rebounds, and Ja'Kobe Strozier added 11 points in an efficient 4-of-8 performance.
Johnson controlled the rebounding battle 52–28, creating key second-chance opportunities and limiting Tennessee Wesleyan's possessions. The Royals also got 31 points from the bench in a complete team effort.
With the win, Johnson moves to 2–4 overall and 2–1 in AAC play. The Royals return for their next matchup on November 29 against IU Kokomo.
