Lady Royals Roll Past CIU for Convincing Home Win
The Royal's women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 92–46 victory over CIU (SC) at Karnes Arena.
Johnson set the tone early, jumping out to a 23–8 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. The Lady Royals continued to build separation throughout the first half, taking a commanding 49–19 advantage into the break. Johnson maintained its offensive rhythm in the second half while holding CIU to just 27 points over the final two quarters.
The Lady Royals shot an efficient 47.8 percent from the field and connected on 19 three-pointers, finishing at 41.3 percent from beyond the arc. Johnson also controlled the glass with a 44–28 rebounding advantage and recorded 27 assists on 33 made field goals.
Hailey Brooks led all scorers with 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including five three-pointers. Emery Tollett posted a well-rounded performance with 21 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and six steals, while Olivia Bolduc added 16 points and eight assists. Megan Biliter recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
CIU was held to 32.1 percent shooting and just 4-of-23 from three-point range as Johnson's defense forced 23 turnovers and consistently disrupted the visitors' offensive flow.
With the win, Johnson improves to 6-8 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
