Lady Royals Roll Past Bluefield with 76–49 Home Victory
The Lady Royals basketball team delivered a strong all-around performance Wednesday evening, cruising to a 76–49 win over Bluefield (VA) inside Douglas E. Karnes Arena.
The Lady Royals set the tone early, jumping out to a 17–7 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. Johnson continued to build momentum in the second period, outscoring Bluefield 23–14 to take a commanding 40–21 advantage into halftime.
Emery Tollett led the way for Johnson with a dominant double-double, finishing with 19 points and 16 rebounds while shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Olivia Bolduc added 15 points and six assists, helping the Royals control the tempo on the offensive end.
Johnson maintained its defensive pressure in the third quarter, holding Bluefield to 14 points while scoring 21 of its own to extend the lead to 61–35. The Royals forced 25 turnovers on the night and turned those opportunities into consistent scoring.
Several players contributed off the bench, including Shamiya Francis, who scored 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting, and Megan Biliter, who added eight points. Jordan Heifner chipped in across the stat sheet with five points, five rebounds, four assists, and six steals.
The Lady Royals finished the game with a 52–45 rebounding edge and totaled 15 assists on 26 made field goals, showcasing balanced team play on both ends of the floor.
The Lady Royals improve to 8–9 overall and 7–4 in conference play with the victory.
