The Johnson University women's volleyball team continued its strong start to the season with a 3–1 road victory over Union Commonwealth on Tuesday night in Barbourville, Kentucky. The Royals improved to 12–3 overall and 2–0 in conference play with the win.
Johnson opened the match with a 25–17 win in the first set before dropping a close second, 25–19. The Royals responded with confidence, taking control in the third and fourth sets by scores of 25–17 and 25–20 to seal the match.
Abigail Brown led the way with a dominant performance, posting 27 kills on a .418 hitting percentage while adding 11 digs and two block assists. Luci Morris followed with nine kills and three service aces, and setter Caelyn Marshall directed the offense efficiently with 25 assists and 15 digs.
Defensively, libero Marissa McMahon anchored the back row with a team-high 26 digs, helping the Royals limit Union Commonwealth's offensive rhythm. As a team, Johnson hit an impressive .248 and tallied 88 total digs in the win.
The Royals return to action later this week as they continue conference play on the road.
