Royals Advance to Mideast Region Final
Royals Defeat Pioneers in a chippy, hard-fought game
The Royals defeated the Campbellsville - Harrodsburg Pioneers 2-1 on Friday, advancing to the Mideasat Region Final.
The Royals did not get off to a good start, getting behind the 8-ball early on. Hunter Booth scored a goal for the Pioneers a mere 58 seconds into the contest, forcing the Royals to fight from behind.
The Pioneers lead would not last, however, as less than 6 minutes later, Josiah Gable knocked in a beautiful header on a ball from Gunner Rodgers, knotting the score up at 1. Later in the first half, Gunner Rodgers would assist on yet another header goal, this time by Dylan Halliburton, with 13 minutes left in the first half. The remainder of the game would be a slugfest, as both teams attempted to gain an advantage over the other. All told there were 7 yellow cards handed out in this one, 6 of which occurred after the goal by Halliburton.
Ultimately, the Royals would prevail. They move on to face Grace Christian on Saturday, November 7th at 3 PM EST in the Mideast Region Final.
