Royals Face No. 3 Campbellsville in Early-Season Test
McKenzie, Tenn. – The Johnson University women's basketball team faced one of the nation's top programs on Saturday afternoon, falling 99–56 to No. 3 Campbellsville University in non-conference play.
The Royals battled against the highly ranked Tigers, who came out strong in the opening half. Johnson responded after halftime with a solid third quarter, scoring 22 points while continuing to find offensive rhythm against Campbellsville's deep rotation.
Senior Madison Brady led the Royals with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting, while Kelsey Holt added 11 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc. Shamiya Francis provided a lift off the bench with 10 points and 7 rebounds, and Megan Biliter contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds in a balanced effort.
As a team, Johnson shot 35% from the field, collected 33 rebounds, and continued to show development against elite competition.
"We knew this would be a big test early in the season," said Head Coach Bryon Lawhon. "Our players kept competing and showed a lot of character against a really good team."
The Royals (0–2) will look to regroup and build on the experience as they continue their road stretch next week.
