The Johnson University women's volleyball team continued its strong late-season push with a straight-set victory over Bluefield (VA) on Friday night inside Karnes Arena. The Royals took down the Rams 26–24, 25–19, 25–19, improving to 29–6 overall and 16–2.
Abigail Brown led the attack with 14 kills, while Ariah Gourley was nearly flawless with seven kills on eight swings (.875). Caelyn Marshall dished out 13 assists, and Hannah Lukey added six more to pace a balanced offensive effort. On defense, Marissa McMahon collected nine digs, while Lukey and Luci Morris combined for five blocks at the net.
Johnson hit an efficient .253 as a team and tallied seven service aces, led by Morris with three.
The Royals return to action today against Pikeville in their final tune-up before heading into the Conference Tournament. With momentum on their side and one of the best records in program history, Johnson looks to make a deep postseason run.
